Opening of the discovery park : May 14, 2011
Montjean-sur-Loire, a tourist village in Maine et Loire is well known for its famous river port witch used to be the centre of intense economic activity. Naturally, that is why the local community has decided to develop its historic and cultural heritage by creating a discovery park about the Loire water transport: the CAP LOIRE.
At his heart, you will discover the boat “Cap Vert”, a permanent inland water transport exhibition, themed gardens, teaching rooms and the Tourist Information Centre.
The story of the “Cap Vert” has been used as the center of the complex surrounded by themed gardens.
To visit the CAP LOIRE is to step inside the inland water transport of the Loire. It is a trip which will lead to the discovery and exploration of the history, the technique and the life of the bargees and their families.
Around the “Cap Vert”, 11 000 m² of natural habitat will entice the visitor to spend a pleasant moment: strolling, stopping a while or moving through in original gardens with their unique and remarkable vegetation.
In CAP LOIRE, you will discover all aspects of the Loire water transport and navigation between history and technique, dream and reality
